Energy Insight Sessions: Topics Important to the Industry

While the Westlark team and guests certainly enjoyed the California wine country during our recent client event (Part One), we also took time to discuss several timely topics that currently impact the propane market.

Adrian Calcaneo, VP of Energy & Feedstocks for OPIS, began our sessions highlighting several topics that impact global LPG movements.

Energy Insight Sessions

Adrian Calcaneo, OPIS a Dow Jones Company

Our educational sessions started off with Adrian Calcaneo, VP of Energy & Feedstocks for OPIS.   During the “Global LPG Market Disruptions” presentation, Adrian touched on a number of topics impacting global LPG movements.   He also provided an AI-generated analysis of how important the United States’ LPG supply is to the rest of the globe.

Scott Gray, Snapper Creek Energy

We moved from that macro movement to a waterborne perspective.  Scott Gray, whom we call the “OG” of waterborne data, provided in depth view of vessel sizes, waterborne movements around the globe, and continued to support the view from Adrian’s presentation that the United States’ supply is vital for the rest of the world.

Scott Gray, an LPG Cargo Broker for Snapper Creek Energy, shared information on waterborne movements around the globe.

Matt Adams, Senior Commodity Advisor at Westlark Advisors, demonstrated how patterns in the propane market can be used to assist with future purchase decisions.

Matt Adams, Westlark Advisors

Our own Westark team member, Matt Adams, then addressed the ever-pressing question of “Where are Prices Going?”.  Using many years of historical data, Matt demonstrated patterns that our team has seen in the propane market and how we can use these patterns to help with future purchase decisions.

Mark Wenik, TransTech Energy

After a brief break, we kicked off the second half of our educational seminar with Mark Wenik from TransTech Energy.   Mark highlighted synthetic natural gas, electrical generation, and datacenters as opportunities for increased propane demand in the coming years.

Mark Wenik, Market Director – Engineered Solutions for TransTech Energy, highlighted opportunities for increased propane demand in the coming years.

Colin Sueyres, the President/CEO of the Western Propane Gas Association, described the growing regulations in California and how these regulations could have affect other states within the U.S.

The next session was kicked off by Colin Sueyres, the President/CEO of the Western Propane Gas Association, who referred to himself and his message as “the spectre of death.”  After that laugh, he went on to describe the growth of regulations within the state of California and how these regulations could have implications for other states within the United States.

JD Buss, Westlark Advisors

Before anyone could escape to a winery, our own JD Buss closed out the educational seminar. He identified several challenges that the retail propane industry has dealt with over prior years and then highlighted how our company rebrand from Twin Feathers to Westlark Advisors would better address some of these challenges in the future.

In Conclusion: We Appreciate You!

Our Westlark Team is incredibly grateful for all of the speakers that took time and energy to prepare their presentations and make the trek to California for our seminar.    The combination of learning with exploration of some wineries, made for a spectacular time for all!

Testimonials

From Our Valued Customers.

We enjoy working with Westlark Advisors. Great people who have helped our business!

Will

Westlark Advisors has taken the burden of the everyday supply logistics off our plate and allowed us to focus on our operations in the critical times of the year. They have educated our team along the way and helped us brainstorm options/risks that fit our business model. Westlark Advisors has allowed the Tevis organization to explore opportunities within the supply and hedging arena that we would not have been exposed to without the relationship.

Dave

We experience less angst when making a futures purchase.*

Jeff

They not only taught us how to plan and diversify our supply, but also new ways to protect the price. They have been great at negotiating supply deals and putting plans in place to know we will be secure when the market is not. I am confident that if things get tight we will be in a better position than our competitors.

Troy

We can’t say enough about the high level of service the entire team provided us. We relied on them and they came through for us over and over. They are complete professionals and a pleasure to do business with.

Rick & Ann

It has been one of the best decisions that our company has ever made. The Westlark Advisors team have looked after our interests since day one, and have executed the plan each year very well.
