Westlark Advisors Attends World Liquid Gas Week – 2025
In February 2025, Westlark Advisors joined the World Liquid Gas Association (WLGA). This organization brings together over 300 private and public companies operating in over 125 countries, and we are proud to be a part of it.
Last month the WLGA held their annual conference in Rio de Janeiro, World Liquid Gas Week. LPG distributors from all over the globe attend this annual event, and the conference in Rio was no exception.
Conference participants came from every continent but one this year, and Westlark Advisors was excited to be among them. This week also saw new leadership, with Mr. Donal Murphy taking the President’s helm at WLGA, while Mr. A. S. Sahney was welcomed into the leadership ranks as Vice President.
Topics Covered
Topics covered during the 2025 World Liquid Gas Week included:
- Renewable propane
- Cooking needs in Africa
- Market Supply Dynamics
- Growing groups of Women in LPG and Youth Council
The conference also marked the 10-year anniversary of Women in LPG. It was exciting to hear about the growth in this group and their plans for future chapters in nations all over the world.
Beautiful Location
This year’s World Liquid Gas Week was held in Brazil, specifically in Rio de Janeiro. Rio provided a beautiful background for this event. Some meetings were held along the Copacabana Beach, while others took place at the Expo Rio.
Outside of the meetings, participants could visit the famed Christ Redeemer statue, take in the scenery, or simply enjoy the sidewalk music at Copacabana.
Why is this important?
The North American propane (LPG) market has undergone a multi-generational shift over the last 15 years. Domestic distribution within North America made up a super-majority of the daily propane produced back in 2010. Fast forward to 2025 and those same domestic distributors now represent a small minority of total North American production. Producers within North America – both U.S. and Canadian – now send 70+% of their production into international markets.
Such a shift taking place means that Westlark Advisors needs to be more involved with global markets. International buying trends shape the pricing and supply dynamics within North America. At the same time, product flow and pricing within North America will influence when and how international firms purchase.
Our vision at Westlark Advisors is to be the premier commodity advisor in North America and beyond. Over the years, we have been taking small steps into the “beyond.” This year we took a huge leap.
Joining the WLGA and attending World Liquid Gas Week – 2025 are just the beginning. We look forward to participating in future WLGA events and would encourage global LPG firms to look for Westlark Team Members at future events in 2026.
